Doing backups on the main system that we use is indeed an optional thing, but for some people who use the system for work, of course having a backup system is a must in order to avoid unwanted things.
On Linux, we can use an application such as Timeshift. In Windows itself, we can actually use a number of Backup applications such as Minitool Shadow Maker and others.
However, did you know that since the Windows 7 version, we can use the default Backup application from Windows, and I think this application is okay to use. Now with regard to this, on this occasion I will try to summarize the short steps for doing a Windows 10 system backup, and here are the steps.
How to Backup Windows 10 System
Step 1
First, please open Settings> Update & Security> Backup> Go Backup and Restore (Windows 7).
Next, please click Set up backup.
Step 2
Please select the storage media where your backup will be stored, well here I will save it on my Home Server, so here I will select “save on a network” to add a directory which I will make a place to store the Backup file.
*Please adjust it to your choice. If you are using External HDD storage media and others, then please go to Step 3.*
Now because I will save it to the Home Server, we must first determine the directory where the backup file will be stored, besides that we also have to enter the username and password of our server.
Step 3
Now then if you have specified the storage media, be it Ext Drive, Network, and others, please select save on a network and click Next.
Step 4
We first select the Backup method that we will use, here are two options, namely Let Windows choose (Recommended) or Let me choose, well here I will use the Let me choose option, because I only want to back up the Windows system. does not include files stored in the user folder.
Next, please select the Drive where the Windows System is located, which is in C, besides, make sure that Include a system image of drives: EFI System Partition is checked. Exactly as in the following image.
Click Next, and please adjust the backup schedule that you might need, here I set it to On Demmand because I will do the backup manually and not automatically be done by the system.
Step 5
Finally, if everything is ready, please click save settings and run backup to start Windows 10 system backup.
Then the backup process will run, this process takes some time depending on the storage media you are using.
So it’s easy, right? In my opinion, compared to Backup with File History, this classic backup option is more powerful and very suitable for use. good luck
